Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. is a commercial general contracting firm specializing in construction of public and private facilities. During its 31 year history, projects have included banks, churches, warehouses, parks, communication towers, dormitories, medical facilities, ammunition storage facilities, emergency operation centers, fire stations, libraries, historical renovations and schools. Some of the many Federal Government clients include every municipal government in the Northern Virginia area. Public Sector clients include the Army Corp of Engineers, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Navy, Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Park Service, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. |

In the last 15 years, school construction has been the main emphasis of the firm while maintaining our focus on private facilities as well. In this “golden age of school construction,” Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. has constructed new schools and renovated existing schools for every major school system in the Washington Metropolitan Area. School systems include the Virginia counties of Fairfax, Stafford, Prince William, Arlington, Culpeper, Loudoun and Frederick, in addition to Jefferson County, West Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland. Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. has completed over 100 school projects.
Our goal is to complete each project on time, within budget, in accordance with the contract documents and with no disputes, either with the client, subcontractors or suppliers. Experienced personnel are the key to any project. Principals, managers and superintendents assigned to all of our projects have at least 10 years construction experience or more.

Vincent H. Santmyer
President
Friends since the 8th grade, Vince Santmyer started Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. in 1979 with Thomas Caldwell after receiving his Degree in Business in 1973. Prior to that, he was involved in his family’s construction business. Most notably, he was instrumental in the 200 year Bicentennial renovation of the Washington Monument in 1976. Vince has over forty years of construction field experience with extensive experience in finish and carpentry trades. |

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1975, Thomas Caldwell started Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. in 1979 with Vincent Santmyer. He has been successfully involved in construction for forty years including field supervision, project management, estimating, senior management, cost accounting and financial reporting. School construction has been the main focus of the firm for the last 15 years. He has effectively coordinated the construction of new and renovated schools for every school system in the Washington Metropolitan area. |

Thomas R. Conaboy
Vice President
Thomas Conaboy attended James Madison University studying Public Administration and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. He entered sales management and the real estate field holding professional licenses in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Joining Caldwell and Santmyer, Inc. in 1997 as Project Manager and Estimator, he successfully bid and managed the construction of numerous schools in Prince William, Arlington, Frederick and Culpeper Counties in Virginia. Projects also include construction of new schools for Loudoun County, Virginia. In 2003, he became Vice President overseeing Project Management and Estimating. |
